Quick answer
Interior painting in Atlanta runs about $964 to $3,079 for most projects, with the city average near $2,021, according to Angi's 2026 cost data. Prep moves the number most, and detailed trim or plaster in older intown houses can add 20 to 40 percent in labor. We quote after a walk-through, so prep is priced in.

The job
What an interior repaint with us involves
Most of the work happens before any color goes on. Furniture is moved and covered, floors are protected, plates come off, holes are filled and sanded, and stains are spot-primed with Zinsser or Kilz so they don't bleed back.
Walls then get two coats, usually a Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore line, with ceiling lines and trim cut by brush first.
What moves the price
What moves the price of an interior repaint
- Wall area and room count
More walls, more paint and hours; setup per room stays fairly fixed.
- Ceiling height
Vaulted rooms, stairwells and foyers need poles, planks or scaffolding.
- Wall condition
Cracks, stains and peeling paint need patching and priming first.
- Trim and doors
Baseboards, crown and paneled doors are brushed by hand.
- Color change
Dark to light can mean a primer coat plus two finish coats.
- Furnished or empty
Empty rooms paint faster than furnished ones worked around.
Atlanta market range from a published local cost guide, not our price: Atlanta interior painting averages $2,021, with most projects between $964 and $3,079; prep adds $0.50 to $3 per square foot; older homes with detailed trim and plaster run 20 to 40 percent more in labor.
What we handle
Interior jobs we paint most often

Living room and bedroom repaint
The most common call: a living room or a couple of bedrooms that look tired, scuffed around switches and door frames, or still wear builder beige. We wash greasy spots, fill dents from furniture and pictures, caulk the gap where baseboard meets wall and spot-prime every patch so it doesn't flash through. Ceilings and trim can be added on the same visit, which almost always costs less than calling us back for them later. Bedrooms with dark accent walls may need a primer coat first.
Market planning range, not our quote: about $400 for one room up to $10,000+ for a whole home.

Whole-home interior repaint
Move-in and pre-listing jobs usually mean every room at once. We work room by room so part of the house stays usable, and keep one color plan so hallways and open spaces read as a single design. Ceiling height matters more than floor area here: two-story foyers and stairwells need poles or a plank and take far longer than a bedroom of the same size, so they are called out in the scope. One color plan also keeps the leftover paint useful for touch-ups later.

Bathroom and kitchen wall painting
Steam and cooking grease make these rooms fail first. Paint that is fine in a bedroom starts peeling above a shower or around a range. We degrease, treat mildew and use a satin or a dedicated bath-and-kitchen finish that stands up to scrubbing. If a bathroom ceiling is bubbling, we check the vent fan and look for a leak before repainting, because a fresh coat over trapped moisture only lasts a few months. Kitchens get the same check around the sink wall.
Basement painting
Finished basements deal with humidity the rest of the house never sees. Before painting we look for moisture coming through: white powder on block, musty corners, soft or bubbling drywall near the floor. A dry basement is painted like any room, with a mildew-resistant finish. A damp one isn't ready for paint, and we'll say so rather than put a coat over a problem that pushes it off within a season. A dehumidifier or a drainage fix usually comes first.
Your options
Choosing a sheen for each room
Sheen decides how a wall cleans and how much it shows.
| Sheen | Best for | Washability | Hides flaws |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat or matte | Ceilings, quiet bedrooms | Low | Best |
| Eggshell | Living rooms, halls | Moderate | Good |
| Satin | Kitchens, baths, kids' rooms | High | Fair |
| Semi-gloss | Trim, doors, cabinets | Highest | Shows most |
Around Atlanta
Painting inside older Atlanta houses
Many intown Atlanta houses are older than they look from the street. West End still has Victorian and Queen Anne homes from the 1880s and 1890s next to 1920s Craftsman bungalows, and Grant Park runs from the 1890s into the 1940s. That means plaster, layers of old trim paint and sometimes lead underneath, so prep is slower and labor can run 20 to 40 percent above a newer build.

Questions
Interior painting questions
No. Clear shelves and take fragile things off the walls; we move and cover the rest, and cover very heavy pieces in place.
Two finish coats. A strong color change or heavy patching adds a primer coat, and the quote says when it does.
Eggshell for most rooms, satin for kitchens and baths, flat for ceilings, semi-gloss for trim. The table below compares them.
Yes. We work room by room with low-odor paint, so most families stay put.
In homes built before 1978 it can be, so sanding there is handled as lead-safe work with its own setup and cleanup.
