Paul Duke began planning Peachtree Corners and Technology Park Atlanta in 1967, and developer Jim Cowart built its neighborhoods from the 1970s; Peachtree Station began in 1979. It remains the only northern Atlanta suburb developed as a planned community, and it voted to become a city on November 8, 2011. By 2020 it had 42,243 residents.
