Flooring installation
Hardwood, vinyl plank and laminate flooring installed in Atlanta
A new floor is only as good as what's underneath it. We check for flex, moisture and level before choosing a floor, then install it and finish the trim and paint around it.

Quick answer
Flooring installation in Atlanta starts with the subfloor: we check for flex, squeaks, moisture and level before any plank goes down, because most floor failures come from what's underneath. Luxury vinyl plank suits kitchens, baths and basements; hardwood suits living areas; laminate suits budgets in dry rooms. Baseboards are reset and painted after installation.

The job
What a flooring job with us includes
Old flooring comes up, the subfloor is screwed down where it squeaks, leveled where it dips and repaired where it's soft. Moisture is checked before any wood goes down.
We install lines such as Bruce hardwood, COREtec vinyl plank and Pergo laminate, with the right underlayment for each, then reset or replace baseboards and finish transitions.

What we handle
Floors we install

Hardwood floor installation
Solid and engineered hardwood are nailed or glued over a flat, dry subfloor after the boards acclimate indoors. Solid hardwood can be refinished many times; engineered is more stable where humidity swings. We check moisture in the subfloor and the wood before installation, leave expansion gaps at the walls, and cover them with baseboard or shoe molding. Site-finished floors are sanded and coated with a floor finish such as Bona after installation. Prefinished boards skip that step and go into use sooner.

Luxury vinyl plank installation
Luxury vinyl plank is waterproof, quiet with the right underlayment and tough enough for kitchens, bathrooms, basements and homes with pets. It floats over most flat subfloors, but it telegraphs every dip and bump, so leveling matters more than with carpet. We flatten high and low spots, lay the planks with staggered joints and leave room for expansion at the walls. Rigid-core products like COREtec handle minor subfloor flaws better than thin flexible ones. Transitions to tile and carpet are fitted at every doorway.
Laminate flooring
Laminate gives the look of wood at a lower price and resists scratches well. It is less tolerant of water than vinyl plank, so it suits bedrooms, living rooms and offices rather than wet areas. It floats over a foam underlayment on a flat subfloor, with expansion gaps at walls and transition strips at doorways. We cut door casings to let planks slide under them rather than caulking around the edge, which is the detail that makes it look installed properly.
Subfloor repair
Squeaks, bounce and soft spots come from loose, damaged or undersized subfloor. We screw loose panels to the joists, replace water-damaged sections, add blocking where the floor flexes and level dips with patch or self-leveling compound. Around toilets, tubs and dishwashers we look closely for past leaks, since soft subfloor there is common. It is the unglamorous part of the job, and the part that decides whether the new floor lasts. It also stops the squeaks that new flooring alone won't fix.

Around Atlanta
Floors in Atlanta's mixed housing
Atlanta's housing changes from one block to the next. In Grant Park we pull up floors in houses that have kept their original character, while in fast-redeveloping West Midtown the house next door may be a full gut renovation on a new subfloor. That range is why every flooring job starts with the subfloor: an older house may need joists shimmed and panels screwed down before anything flat can go on top.
