Quick answer
Drywall repair in Atlanta averages about $512, with most jobs between $276 and $761 in Angi's local data, and painting the repaired area adds roughly $2 to $6 per square foot. The price depends on hole size, texture and how much wall is repainted to blend. We patch, feather, match texture and paint the whole wall so the repair doesn't flash.

The job
What makes a patch invisible
The patch itself is quick. The time goes into feathering compound wide enough that no edge shows, matching the wall's texture, and priming so the patch doesn't show as a dull spot under paint.
We repaint to the nearest corner rather than dabbing paint on the patch, because old paint has faded and a touch-up almost never matches exactly.

What we handle
Drywall damage we fix

Hole and dent patching
Doorknob holes, anchor holes from TV mounts, dents from furniture and holes left by moved outlets are the most common repairs. Small holes are filled and sanded; larger ones get a backer and a new piece of drywall screwed in place, then taped and finished in several thin coats. Each coat is feathered wider than the last. A door stop is worth adding behind any door that punched a hole, or the same spot will need repair again. Several holes in one visit share the drying time.

Crack repair
Cracks running diagonally from door and window corners come from framing movement and seasonal swelling, and they reopen if they're only filled with spackle. We cut the crack open slightly, bridge it with mesh or paper tape embedded in setting compound, and feather the repair. Ceiling cracks along seams get the same treatment. Wide, growing or stepped cracks can signal settling that's worth having checked, and we'll say so if the pattern looks structural rather than cosmetic.
Drywall seam and tape repair
Bubbling tape, nail pops and visible seam lines usually trace back to the original finish or to moisture. We cut out loose tape, reset popped fasteners with screws, and retape and finish the seam. Tape that lifted because of a leak is repaired only after the area is dry and the source is fixed. In humid rooms like bathrooms and laundry rooms, we use a setting compound and primer that hold up better to moisture. The finished seam is primed before paint.
Texture matching
Most Atlanta walls and ceilings carry some texture: orange peel, knockdown or a light sand finish. A smooth patch on a textured wall stands out as soon as light hits it. We practice the texture on scrap board first, then spray or hand-apply it over the patch and feather it into the surrounding wall. Once primed and painted with the wall, a matched texture makes the repair very hard to find, even from an angle. Smooth walls get a smooth finish, sanded flush.
Around Atlanta
Repairs in West End rentals and lofts
Around our West End office, the housing mixes newer multifamily buildings and live-work lofts with older single-family homes, and that turnover brings a steady run of drywall damage: anchor holes from wall-mounted TVs, doorknob holes and scuffed corners between tenants. Loft walls tend to be large, open planes where a patch shows easily, so feathering wide and repainting the whole wall matters more there than in a small bedroom.

Patching it yourself vs having it done
Small nail holes are an easy DIY fix. Larger repairs usually show because of these steps.
| Step | Common DIY result | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Compound | One thick coat, shrinks and cracks | Thin coats, feathered wide |
| Texture | Smooth patch on a textured wall | Texture matched and blended |
| Paint | Touch-up spot that flashes | Wall repainted to the corner |
